§ 5246. Let's Move Puerto Rico Week

(a) The second week of November of each year is hereby declared as the “Let’s Move Puerto Rico Week”.

(b) Within not less than five (5) days before the beginning of November of each year, the Governor of the Government of Puerto Rico, through a proclamation to such effect, shall exhort the People of Puerto Rico to participate in the events to be held in accordance with this section.

(c) The Sports and Recreation Department and the Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, the Department of the Family, and the Family Protection and Strengthening Advisory Board shall take the necessary measures to attain the objectives of this section. All the aforementioned agencies in conjunction with civic and community-based organizations, public and private as well as multidisciplinary professional organizations or entities in the Island shall be in charge of disseminating the importance and the scope of this proclamation by holding public and special events as appropriate to raise people’s awareness on the significance of the “Let’s Move Puerto Rico Week”.

(d) A copy of the annual proclamation shall be distributed to the media for broadcasting, dissemination, and/or publication.
