§ 5187a. National Family Day

(a) It is hereby declared that May 15th of each year shall be observed as “National Family Day” in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

(b) The Governor, by means of proclamation, shall encourage the people of Puerto Rico annually to render homage and admiration to all Puerto Rican families on this date.

(c) The Department of the Family and the Department of Education are hereby directed to create a Joint Committee for purposes of announcing the significance of this date by holding special activities in public acknowledgement of the large contributions made by Puerto Rican families to the life of our country.

(d) This Joint Committee shall work exclusively on the implementation of “National Family Day” activities, pursuant to the rules to be adopted therefor, and shall be dissolved upon the conclusion of the activities.

(e) It shall be the duty of the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to forward a copy of this section to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization.
