§ 5058. Day of No More Violence Against Women

(a) It is hereby provided that the first day of November of each year shall be observed as the “Day of Peace” throughout the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

(b) The Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, through a proclamation to such effects, shall annually exhort the People of Puerto Rico to celebrate this day.

(c) The Women’s Advocate Office in coordination with the pertinent government agencies and non-government entities concerned, is hereby directed to divulge the significance of said day by holding special activities to achieve the awareness of the citizens of the need to eradicate the problem of violence against women in our country, and emphasize [the] need to respect the dignity and peace of human beings without distinction of gender.
