§ 5552. Registers

Any person authorized by the commission who is engaged in the business of renting or leasing automobiles to be driven by those who rent or lease them, shall keep a register of the license plate number of the motor vehicle rented or leased, the number of the driving license of the person renting it, with his/her name and address and the place or jurisdiction where said driving license was issued. Such a register shall always be available for inspection by the members of the police force, the municipal police or any personnel of the department designated by the Secretary.

Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall incur a misdemeanor and if convicted, punished with a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000).

Any person engaged in the business of renting automobiles to be driven by those who rent them so as to take the driver’s examination in order to obtain any of the licenses issued by the Department, must register with the Department and comply with all the provisions established by the Secretary through regulations.
