§ 5415. Sound and motor acceleration muffling systems

The following rules shall apply with regard to sound and motor acceleration muffling systems:

(a) Every motor vehicle traveling on a public road shall be equipped with a muffler that must be in good working condition. It shall be illegal to use exhaust valves or any other device or gadget on the muffler for the purpose of making noise.

(b) It shall be illegal to unnecessarily accelerate the motor cause it to or produce noise.

(c) A “muffler” shall be deemed to be any device or gadget used to reduce the noise produced by the emission of gases from an internal combustion engine.

Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall incur an administrative fault and shall be punished with a fine of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150).
