§ 56b. Penalties and legal actions

ARPE may impose fines to any person who violates the provisions of this chapter, pursuant to ARPE Regulations for Administrative Fines. It may also initiate the adequate legal action to implement and oversee the provisions of this chapter.

ARPE shall notify the owner of the illegal sign or advertisement, as well as the owner or occupant of the property where located, of its intention to impose fines for violating the provisions of this chapter; and shall grant a term of ten (10) days to correct the violation, before imposing the said fines.

For the purpose of this section, conforming a sign or advertisement to the requirements established by ARPE; or presenting the corresponding draft when requesting a variation; or presenting an application for the installation of a sign or advertisement affected by the notification, shall be enough cause to halt the process of imposing fines or the proceedings of any legal action filed.
