§ 571b. Minimum requirements

In addition to those fixed by the Secretary of the Sports and Recreation Department, by regulations, the following shall be minimum requirements that the awardees shall meet to qualify for the benefits of this appropriation:

(1) To approve admission examinations to a higher education or post-secondary non-university institution, duly recognized by the Council on Higher Education or by the General Council on Education or by any other private entity, as the case may be.

(2) Not to exceed the schedule programmed by the institution to obtain the training certificate of the course or program in question.

(3) To observe good behavior and maintain an interest in his/her studies.

(4) To present to the Secretary of Sports and Recreation official proof of the grades or certificates obtained in the courses each semester.

The scholarship recipient, upon completion of his/her courses, shall give one year of public service in the Sports and Recreation Department, which, in turn, shall assign him/her to the federation corresponding to the discipline for which he/she trained or studied. The Sports and Recreation Department may exempt any scholarship recipient from complying with this requirement, pursuant to the regulations that shall be adopted for these purposes.

(5) It shall be the obligation of the scholarship recipient to reimburse to the Special Fund created hereby, the full amount received as scholarship, plus interest at the legal rate from the time the moneys were received, if he/she drops out of the studies, if the Secretary withdraws the benefits for any of the indicated causes, or if he/she does not complete the year of public service.

(6) All technicians or trainers of high-performance athletes must be certified by the Technical Training Institute of the Sports and Recreation Department in order to qualify for a training contract with said Department.
