§ 301v. Promotion of gamecock breeding in Puerto Rico

It shall be the responsibility of the Department of Agriculture to preserve and improve the gamecock breed in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. To such purposes, it shall establish registers, issue identification cards, and develop training, incentive and assistance programs for gamecock breeders, raisers, trainers, cockers and owners that enable the optimum development of this activity as part of the livestock and agricultural sector of the Island.

The Department and its Secretary shall certify as “bona fide farmer” to those persons and entities who thus request it and who earn more than fifty percent (50%) of their income from breeding, raising, tending to gamecocks and/or operating a cockpit, either individually or in any combination thereof.
