§ 1705. Powers

School, community and university youth cooperatives of different nature may be organized according to the needs identified by the school and residential community under the supervision of the Cooperative Development Administration. The cooperatives shall develop the educational and commercial activities necessary to sustain the workshop and to attain the objectives and purposes for which they were created. Some of the activities to be developed are as follows:

(a) To participate in seminars, formal and informal training workshops and events sponsored by the Department of Education, the Cooperative Development Administration, the Cooperative League and the cooperative movement.

(b) To establish school shops to supply cafeteria services, school supplies, bookshops and other necessary services to cover students’ needs which provide for the development of the workshop and business skills in cooperative practice.

(c) To establish workshops for artistic creation, work, sports, administration of cooperative enterprises and others.

(d) To cooperate in the solution of school community needs according to the economic capacity of each cooperative.

(e) To conduct educational activities for the school about cooperativism principles and values.

(f) To create programs or workshops for the development of work activities and to develop entrepreneurial skills in cooperative practice.

(g) [To] publish magazines for youth or similar publications, whether printed or through electronic means, to highlight the highest ethical and moral values of our youth, as well as their community and educational achievements and distinctions.
