§ 972. Municipal public libraries—Appropriations; reports to Legislature

For the year 1955-56 the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is hereby appropriated from any available funds in the Commonwealth Treasury not otherwise appropriated for carrying out the purposes of §§ 969—973 of this title; Provided, That in each succeeding year a like sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) shall be allotted to the Department of Education in the general budget of expenses of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, for the carrying out of the purposes of such sections.

The Secretary of Education shall report to the Legislature, during the regular sessions thereof, on the extent to which this plan for public libraries has been developed and put into operation, and shall make such recommendations as he deems pertinent with regard to additional funds required for the adequate functioning thereof.
