§ 960. Editing, purchase and distribution of books by Puerto Rican authors

In order to encourage the cultivation of literature and stimulate bibliographical production in Puerto Rico, the Institute of Literature is hereby authorized so that [sic] from any sums that are not committed to pay the amount of the annual awards in its operating expenses, it may edit and purchase books of positive merit of Puerto Rican authors without any limitation as to the nature or type of literary works.

The Institute of Puerto Rican Literature may also distribute the literary works it edits or purchases, through sale or exchange to bookstores, or by donation to public libraries, school libraries and those of teaching, scientific, cultural, social and labor institutions and fraternities, within and outside of Puerto Rico.
