§ 910h. Samuel R. Quiñones Senate Scholarship

(a) The “Samuel R. Quiñones Senate Scholarship for Excellence in the Spanish Language,” is hereby instituted, which shall be granted annually by the Senate of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to a student in the 12th grade of high school, to be selected by a committee designated by the Secretary of the Department of Education.

(b) The Committee shall hold contests, and coordinate and supervise the activities in all school districts to carry out the duty to select the student to whom the scholarship shall be granted, pursuant to the regulations set forth by the Secretary for the granting of said scholarship.

(c) This scholarship shall be granted in cash, and the Puerto Rico Senate shall appropriate the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000) from the General Expenses Fund each year for this purpose.
