§ 879c. Municipal scholarships and leaves with pay—Qualifications; limitation on credits taken

Candidates for the scholarships authorized by §§ 879a—879e of this title must be persons of good repute with an academic index of not less than B or its equivalent in their high school or university studies, as the case may be. Where two or more candidates are equally worthy of having a scholarship awarded to them, the benefited one shall be the student with the lowest income. Officers and employees availing themselves of the educational and training programs through tuition paid by the municipality must be rendering satisfactory services to the municipality, and shall not be authorized to go in for more than six (6) university credits in any one school semester or summer course; Provided, That during the last semester of studies of the officer and/or employee there shall be authorized the payment of tuition for the number of university credits that may be necessary for completion of the course he is pursuing.
