§ 102. Transfer of school buildings and property to Commonwealth; exceptions

The school buildings the property of the municipalities of Puerto Rico and of the Government of the Capital now or hereafter devoted by them to schools, as well as all the personal or real property belonging to the municipalities of Puerto Rico and to the Government of the Capital and devoted by them to school purposes, are hereby transferred to the Commonwealth Government.

The Secretary of Transportation and Public Works shall take the necessary steps to execute such transfers. It is provided, however, that the school director shall, together with the school supervisor, be responsible for the inspection and supervision of said school buildings.

The provisions of this section shall not be applicable to the cases of buildings devoted provisionally to schools nor to real property devoted provisionally to school purposes by the municipalities; nor shall said provisions be applicable to such buildings and properties as were originally acquired for school purposes and whose use was desisted from after the buildings were acquired, because they were inadequate therefor.
