§ 514. Training and retraining programs for unemployed workers

The Department of Education and the Department of Labor and Human Resources of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico are hereby authorized to continue participating in the training and retraining programs for unemployed workers under congressional act 87-415 entitled “Manpower Development and Training Act of 1962” (42 U.S.C. 2571-2620); to administer programs for the development and training of human resources and to pay bonuses to persons covered by said programs; to enter, in behalf of the Commonwealth, into agreements or contracts with the pertinent federal agencies, containing such provisions as may be necessary or desirable so that the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico may participate in said programs; to expend all funds that may be appropriated for these programs by the Commonwealth or its agencies or political subdivisions or by the federal government, to supervise the expenditure of said funds and the conducting of such programs carried out by other public and private agencies of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; to make such reports and certifications as may be required, and to cooperate with the federal government and its different departments and agencies in the administration of said programs.
