§ 298. Hiring of pensioned teachers in special education programs

(a) The Secretary of Education is hereby authorized to hire any person retired for years of service under the retirement systems sponsored by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or its instrumentalities who are over 58 years of age to render part-time services as teacher in the special public education programs, such as literacy, training of adults, and other activities in charge of the Department of Education, and to pay them the proper compensation for said services at a rate of five dollars ($5) an hour in addition to the pension payments received by the person so hired.

(b) The services rendered by pensioners so hired by the Secretary of Education under this section shall not be taken into consideration for any increase in pension nor shall entitle them to a new pension, for which reason no deductions for retirement purposes shall be made from such additional compensation for the duration of such services.
