§ 836. Recycling, Loans and Reuse Permanent Project

The Director of the Program is under the obligation of establishing and coordinating the Assistive Technology Equipment Recycling, Loans and Reuse Permanent Project with other Government agencies and corporations, and in collaboration with private entities for the purpose of promoting, fostering, and facilitating the use and reuse of assistive medical and assistive technology equipment for persons with disabilities. In order for agencies and public corporations including, but not limited to the Department of Education, the Department of Health, and the Vocational Rehabilitation Administration of the Department of Labor and Human Resources to carry out their responsibility of providing assistive technology equipment in a more efficient and economic manner, they shall be required to create and implement an assistive technology equipment recycling and reuse program in coordination with the Puerto Rico Assistive Technology Program.

To effectively comply with these provisions, the University of Puerto Rico shall provide the Program with human resources and physical facilities for handling and storing assistive technology equipment for persons with disabilities. To such ends, the Board of Trustees and the President of the University of Puerto Rico shall adopt regulations as necessary to faithfully comply with this chapter.
