Section 59-2117 - Same; execution and acknowledgment outside of state, in foreign country or by person in military service(a) A consent or relinquishment, or document that is the functional equivalent of a Kansas consent or relinquishment, is valid if executed and acknowledged outside of this state or in a foreign country either in accordance with the law of this state or in accordance with the law of the place where executed.(b) If the person signing a consent or relinquishment is in the military service of the United States, the execution of the consent or relinquishment may be acknowledged before a commissioned officer and the signature of the officer shall be verified or acknowledged before a notary public or by such other procedure as is then in effect for such division or branch of the armed forces.Amended by L. 2018, ch. 118,§ 6, eff. 7/1/2018.L. 1990, ch. 145, § 7; July 1.
