Section 32-1177 - Accident reports(a) It shall be the duty of the operator of a vessel involved in a collision, accident or other casualty, so far as the operator can do so without serious danger to the operator's own vessel, crew, and passengers (if any), to render to other persons affected by the collision, accident or other casualty such assistance as practicable and as necessary in order to save them from or minimize any danger caused by the collision, accident or other casualty, and also to give the operator's name, address and identification of the operator's vessel, in writing, to any person injured and to the owner of any property damaged in the collision, accident or other casualty.(b) In the case of collision, accident or other casualty involving a vessel, the operator thereof, if the collision, accident or other casualty results in death or injury to a person or damage to property in excess of the amount established by rules and regulations of the secretary shall file with the department a full description of the collision, accident or other casualty, including such additional information as required by rules and regulations adopted by the secretary pursuant to K.S.A. 32-805, and amendments thereto.L. 1959, ch. 321, § 11; L. 1989, ch. 118, § 151; L. 1993, ch. 185, § 17; July 1.
