Section 8-9.5-7-6 - Adoption of ordinance; effective date
(a) The commission may adopt a draft of an ordinance only at a meeting which is open to the public. Before adopting an ordinance, the commission shall give opportunity to any person present at the meeting to give testimony, evidence or argument for or against the proposed ordinance in person or by counsel, under such rules as to the number of persons who may be heard and time limits as may be adopted by the commission.
(b) When an ordinance is adopted, the commission shall at the same meeting designate the effective date of the ordinance. If the commission fails so to designate the effective date of the ordinance in the record of the proceedings of the commission, the ordinance shall be effective on the fourteenth day after its passage.
