Section 4-31-3-2 - Terms of office of members(a) Except as provided in subsection (d), the term of office of a member of the commission is four (4) years.(b) If a vacancy occurs on the commission, the governor shall appoint a new member to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.(c) A member of the commission may not serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. However, this limitation does not apply to part of an unexpired term served under subsection (b) or to terms of three (3) years or less required under subsection (d).(d) In order to stagger the terms of office of the members of the commission, the terms of office that begin in 1997 must be as follows:(1) One (1) member shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year.(2) One (1) member shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years.(3) One (1) member shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years.(4) Two (2) members shall each be appointed for a term of four (4) years. Thereafter, all members shall be appointed for terms of four (4) years.
