Section 36-8-19.5-3 - Designation of public safety improvement areas(a) A legislative body may apply to the institute to have an area of a city governed by the legislative body designated as a public safety improvement area. The application must include a plan for improving public safety within the area.(b) The institute may not designate an area as a public safety improvement area unless the area: (1) has a high crime rate;(2) has boundaries that are expressly designated by the legislative body; and(3) comprises not more than twenty percent (20%) of the city's geographical territory.As added by P.L. 21-1994, SEC.3.
