Section 36-4-6-8 - President; vice president; president pro tempore(a) This subsection applies only to second class cities. At its first regular meeting under section 7 of this chapter, and each succeeding January, the legislative body shall choose from its members a president and a vice president.(b) This subsection applies only to third class cities. The city executive shall preside at all meetings of the legislative body, but may vote only in order to break a tie. At its first regular meeting under section 7 of this chapter and each succeeding January, the legislative body shall choose from its members a president pro tempore to preside whenever the executive is absent.Pre-Local Government Recodification Citation: 18-1-3-3.
