Section 33-33-49-13.2 - Term of office; retention classes
(a) Each judge of the court shall serve a term of six (6) years. The judge shall hold office for the six (6) year term or until the judge's successor is appointed and qualified. A judge shall be appointed at large for the office of judge of the court and not as the judge of a particular room or division of the court.
(b) The thirty-six (36) judges of the court shall be divided into two (2) retention classes.
(c) Retention class A consists of the twenty (20) judges whose terms expire on December 31, 2018.
(d) Retention class B consists of the sixteen (16) judges whose terms expire on December 31, 2020.
(e) A newly appointed judge is assigned to the retention class of the judge's predecessor.
