Section 20-25-3-2 - Board of school commissioners; powers; liabilities(a) The school city board has the following powers:(1) The powers conferred upon school cities by Acts 1871, c.15.(2) The powers conferred by law as of March 9, 1931, on boards of school commissioners in cities having a population of one hundred thousand (100,000) or more.(3) The powers conferred by all laws in effect as of March 9, 1931, on boards of school commissioners in cities having a population of more than two hundred thousand (200,000) or more than three hundred thousand (300,000).(4) The powers conferred under IC 20-26-1, IC 20-26-2, IC 20-26-3, IC 20-26-4, IC 20-26-5, IC 20-26-7, and IC 20-41-1, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.(b) A school city board provided for by this chapter, in its respective school city, is liable for and must pay and discharge all of the indebtedness, liabilities, and obligations of a board elected in the school city under any of the statutes listed in this section and under this chapter.(c) The board is vested with the title and ownership of all property of every kind of the existing school city.Pre-2005 Elementary and Secondary Education Recodification Citation: 20-3-11-1.
