Section 13-20-3-1 - County and state of origin of solid waste; certification to transfer station or final disposal facility; weight determination; certified statements(a) A solid waste hauler that takes solid waste to a transfer station or a final disposal facility located in Indiana shall certify to the owner or operator of the transfer station or final disposal facility the county and state of origin of the largest part of the solid waste by weight. If a transfer station or a final disposal facility does not have a scale suitable for weighing the solid waste received at the transfer station or final disposal facility, the following conversion factors shall be used to determine the weight of the solid waste by conversion from the volume of the solid waste:(1) Three and three-tenths (3.3) cubic yards of compacted solid waste equals one (1) ton of solid waste.(2) Six (6) cubic yards of uncompacted solid waste equals one (1) ton of solid waste.(b) The owner or operator of a transfer station or final disposal facility who receives certified statements under subsection (a) shall do the following:(1) Retain the statements for one (1) year.(2) File quarterly reports with the department that state the county and state of origin of the largest part of the solid waste by weight received at the facility during the reporting period.Pre-1996 Recodification Citation: 13-9.5-11-1.
