Section 12-21-8-8 - Deployment of crisis and outgoing services; coordination of access; requirements; follow-up services(a) A designated 9-8-8 crisis response center may deploy crisis and outgoing services, including mobile crisis teams, and coordinate access to crisis receiving and stabilization services or other appropriate local sources in accordance with guidelines by the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline.(b) A designated 9-8-8 crisis response center shall coordinate access to crisis receiving and stabilization services for individuals accessing the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline through appropriate information sharing concerning availability of services.(c) A designated 9-8-8 crisis response center shall meet the requirements set forth by the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline for serving high risk and specialized populations, including individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and other relevant and culturally sensitive special populations, as identified by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, including training requirements and policies for transferring callers to an appropriate specialized center or subnetwork.(d) A designated 9-8-8 crisis response center must provide follow-up services to individuals accessing the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline consistent with guidelines and policies established by the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline.Amended by P.L. 162-2023,SEC. 16, eff. 7/1/2023.Added by P.L. 207-2021,SEC. 10, eff. 7/1/2021.
