Section 320 ILCS 25/7 - Payment and denial of claims
(a) In general. The Director shall order the payment from appropriations made for that purpose of grants to claimants under this Act in the amountsto which the Department has determined they are entitled, respectively. Ifa claim is denied, the Director shall cause written notice of that denial and the reasons for that denial to be sent to the claimant.
(b) Payment of claims one dollar and under. Where the amount of thegrant computed under Section 4 is less than one dollar, the Departmentshall pay to the claimant one dollar.
(c) Right to appeal. Any person aggrieved by an action or determination of the Department on Aging arising under any of its powers orduties under this Act may request in writing that theDepartment on Aging reconsider its action or determination, setting out the facts upon which the request is based. The Department on Aging shall consider the request and either modify or affirm its prior action or determination. The Department on Aging may adopt, by rule, procedures for conductingits review under this Section.
