Section 40 ILCS 5/6-218 - Duties of city officersIt shall be the duty of the proper officers of the city to:
(a) Deduct the sums required by this Article from the salaries of firemen, as defined in this Article, and pay such sums to the board of the fund in such manner as the board specifies;(b) On the first day of each month, notify the board of the employment of any new firemen, and of all discharges, resignations, and suspensions from the service, deaths, and changes in salary which have occurred during the preceding month, and the dates when any such events occurred;(c) Transmit to the board, in such form and at such time as the board specifies, all information requested by the board concerning the service, age, salary, residence, marital status, wife or widow, children, parents, physical condition, mental condition, and death of any firemen employed by the city; in particular, information concerning service rendered by any such firemen prior to the effective date set forth in this Article.(d) Convey to the board all information required by the board concerning each newly appointed or reappointed fireman immediately after such appointment or reappointment;(e) Certify to the board, as of some day in each year to be fixed by the board, the name of each fireman to whom this Article applies;(f) Keep such records concerning firemen as the board may reasonably require and may specify. All such duties shall be performed by the city officers without cost to the fund.
