Section 19a-14e - Need-based program to waive application costs and licensure fees for licensure as a mental or behavioral health care provider

The Commissioner of Public Health shall establish, within available appropriations, a need-based program pursuant to which the commissioner may waive application costs and licensure fees for persons who are applying to the Department of Public Health for licensure as a mental or behavioral health care provider pursuant to chapter 370, 382a, 383, 383a, 383b or 383c of the general statutes, or section 20-195mmm of the general statutes, and who will provide mental or behavioral health care services to children. The Commissioner of Public Health shall develop eligibility requirements based on financial need for recipients of a waiver of such costs and fees and give priority to each applicant (1) who is a member of a racial or ethnic minority, (2) for whom English is a second language, (3) who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, or (4) who has a disability. The Department of Public Health may accept private donations for the program.
