Section 42-62-21 - Health cost report(a) The governor shall provide for a health cost report to be made not later than December 31 to the general assembly on legislative and administrative steps required: (1) To provide a more comprehensive protection against the costs of health services provided pursuant to this chapter to persons without health insurance;(2) To control the rising cost of health services;(3) To provide for more efficient administration of health services by the state;(4) To establish more efficient and uniform rate setting processes for the state's purchase of health services and goods;(5) To reduce out-of-pocket costs of health services to persons residing in the state;(6) To establish a uniform reporting system for vendors for the costs of health services; and(7) To respond to other changes in health finance, planning, and regulation that may be required in Rhode Island in the event of the passage of a national health insurance act.(b) The report shall be made in consultation with the budget officer, the director of the department of health, the directors of the departments of behavioral healthcare, developmental disabilities and hospitals, of human services, and of business regulation, and with representatives of insurers, of the Rhode Island Medical Society, of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, of employers' organizations, and of employees' organizations.R.I.
