Section 6E:5 - Certification by commission
(a) All law enforcement agencies shall be certified by the commission.
(b) The division of police certification in consultation with the municipal police training committee established in section 116 of chapter 6, and subject to the approval of the commission, shall establish minimum certification standards for all law enforcement agencies that shall include, but shall not be limited to, the establishment and implementation of agency policies regarding:
(i) use of force and reporting of use of force;
(ii) officer code of conduct;
(iii) officer response procedures;
(iv) criminal investigation procedures;
(v) juvenile operations;
(vi) internal affairs and officer complaint investigation procedures;
(vii) detainee transportation; and
(viii) collection and preservation of evidence.
(c) An agency shall remain in compliance with the requirements of this chapter and all rules and regulations promulgated by the commission.
