Section 44-53-250 - Schedule IVThe controlled substances in this section are included in Schedule IV.
(a) Depressants. Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substances having a depressant effect on the central nervous system, including its salts, isomers (whether position, geometric, or optical), and salts of such isomers whenever the existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible within the specific chemical designation: (b) Stimulants. Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substances having a stimulant effect on the central nervous system, including its salts, isomers (whether position, geometric, or optical), and salts of such isomers whenever the existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible within the specific chemical designation:(4) Pemoline, including organometallic complexes and chelates thereof(6) SPA [(-)-1-Dimethylamino-1, 2-diphenylethane].(c) Any material, compound, mixture or preparation containing any quantity of the following substance, including its salts, isomers (whether position, geometric, or optical) and salts of such isomers whenever the existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible:(d) Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound, mixture or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substances, including its salts;(e) Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation containing limited quantities of any of the following narcotic drugs, or any salts thereof:(1) Not more than one milligram of difenoxin and not less than twenty-five micrograms of atropine sulfate per dosage unit.(2) Dosage forms of Dextropropoxyphene [Alpha-(+)-4-dimethylamino-1, 2-diphenyl-3-methyl-2-propionoxybutane].(f) Pentazocine hydrochloride and acetaminophen, pentazocine hydrochloride and aspirin, and pentazocine and naloxone hydrochloride (all for oral administration only).2000 Act No. 355, Section 9; 1994 Act No. 456, Section 2; 1985 Act No. 59 Sections 6, 7; 1982 Act No. 423 Section 5; 1981 Act No. 72, Section 3; 1979 Act No. 118 Section 3; 1978 Act No. 452 Sections 3, 4; 1976 Act No. 672 Section 6; 1974 (58) 2228; 1971 (57) 800; 1962 Code Section 32-1510.37. Section 44-53-160(B) authorizes the Department of Health and Environmental Control to add, delete, or reschedule a substance as a controlled substance when the General Assembly is not in session, and Section 44-53-160(C) requires the department to make such changes to conform to federal law.
