Section 46-5-136 - Authority of local government to create advisory board(a) The governing authority of a local government by resolution shall create an advisory board consisting of the sheriff, representatives from other public safety agencies which respond to emergency calls under the 9-1-1 system, and other individuals knowledgeable of emergency 9-1-1 systems and the emergency needs of the citizens of the local government, provided that such advisory board shall not exceed 13 members.(b) The advisory board shall assist the local government in: (1) Reviewing and analyzing the progress by public safety agencies in developing 9-1-1 system requirements;(2) Recommending steps of action to effect the necessary coordination, regulation, and development of a 9-1-1 system;(3) Identifying mutual aid agreements necessary to effect the 9-1-1 system;(4) Assisting in the promulgation of necessary rules, regulations, operating procedures, schedules, and other such policy and administrative devices as shall be deemed necessary and appropriate; and(5) Providing other services as may be deemed appropriate by the local government.(c) The members of the advisory board shall not be compensated from moneys deposited into the Emergency Telephone System Fund.Amended by 2007 Ga.
