Section 15-18-64.1 - Grace period for payment of fines, fees, and costs upon release of inmate from physical custody(a) During the 180-day period immediately after an inmate is released from the physical custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections, he or she shall not be required to pay any outstanding court-assessed fines, fees, or costs.(b) Within 30 days of release from physical custody, an inmate shall contact the clerk of the court in the jurisdiction or jurisdictions in which he or she has financial obligations and shall enter into a repayment agreement for outstanding court-assessed fines, fees, or costs.(c) Persons in the physical custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections shall not be required to pay any outstanding court-assessed fines, fees, or costs while incarcerated. This subsection shall not apply to an individual who has been sentenced to a community corrections punishment authority or community corrections program.(d) This section shall not apply to any restitution owed to a victim or any supervision fees assessed as a condition of release from physical custody.Ala.
