Section 13839 - [Effective 1/1/2025] Generally(a) The California Crime Victims Fund is hereby established within the State Treasury.(b) Notwithstanding Section 13340 of the Government Code, moneys deposited in the California Crime Victims Fund are continuously appropriated, without regard to fiscal years, to the Office of Emergency Services to support crime victim services that are eligible for federal Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance Formula Grant funding. The office shall expend moneys for purposes of this section within three years after receipt of the moneys.(c) The moneys in the California Crime Victims Fund are intended to supplement and not replace federal Victims of Crime Act funds.(d) The Office of Emergency Services shall seek advisement from the Victims of Crime Act Steering Committee on the priorities for utilizing the moneys made available pursuant to this section, in addition to federal Victims of Crime Act funds.(e) Not more than 5 percent of the moneys made available pursuant to this section shall be utilized for administrative purposes.(f) The Treasurer shall provide an annual report to the Legislature on the amounts deposited into the California Crime Victims Fund. A report submitted pursuant to this subdivision shall be submitted in compliance with Section 9795 of the Government Code.Added by Stats 2024 ch 651 (AB 2432),s 4, eff. 1/1/2025.Stats 2024 ch 651 (AB 2432),s 1 provides that this act shall be known, and may be cited, as the California Victims of Crime Act.
