Section 33498 - Legislative intent; legislative findings(a) For purposes of this chapter, the terms "authority" and "site" have the meaning given in Section 67472 of the Government Code.(b) With enactment of this chapter, it is the intent of the Legislature to do both of the following: (1) Provide a means of mitigating the harmful effects and potentially blighted conditions caused by the closure of the former Camarillo State Hospital.(2) Enhance the economic, cultural, and social development of the region by facilitating the development of a state university campus and other compatible uses on the site.(c) The Legislature finds that the closure and conversion of major state facilities can require use of the powers provided under this part and under Section 16 of Article XVI of the California Constitution, and that the closure of the Camarillo State Hospital and the development of a California State University campus on the site as well as the development of compatible uses on the site requires development of a reuse plan by the California State University, Channel Islands Site Authority.Ca.
