Section 8670.25 - Duty of person causing spill(a) A person who, without regard to intent or negligence, causes or permits any oil to be discharged in or on the waters of the state shall immediately contain, clean up, and remove the oil in the most effective manner that minimizes environmental damage and in accordance with the applicable contingency plans, unless ordered otherwise by the Coast Guard or the administrator.(b) If there is a spill, an owner or operator shall comply with the applicable oil spill contingency plan approved by the administrator.Amended by Stats 2014 ch 35 (SB 861),s 17, eff. 6/20/2014.Amended by Stats 2008 ch 565 (AB 2911),s 5, eff. 1/1/2009.Amended by Stats 2001 ch 748 (AB 715), s 15, eff. 1/1/2002.
