Section 33011 - Appointment of student member to board, commission, other body

Whenever by any law the board is authorized to appoint members to a board, commission, or other statutorily created body, the board may also appoint a nonvoting student member to that body. The student member shall receive actual and necessary expenses from the body to which he or she is appointed and shall be afforded an opportunity to express his or her preference on all matters voted upon by that body. The term of office of all student members appointed pursuant to this section shall be one year beginning on August 1. A person may serve only one term as a student member. The board shall determine the process for selecting student members appointed pursuant to this section by amendment to its bylaws.
