Section 23-17-112 - Damages for mental anguish(a) All telegraph companies doing business in this state shall be liable in damages for mental anguish or suffering even in the absence of bodily injury or pecuniary loss for negligence in receiving, transmitting, or delivering messages.(b) In all actions under this section, the jury may award such damages as it concludes resulted from the negligence of the telegraph company.(c) Nothing contained in this section shall abridge the rights and remedies now provided by law against telegraph companies, and the rights and remedies provided for by this section shall be in addition to those now existing.Acts 1903, No. 68, §§ 1-3, p. 123; C. & M.
