Section 9-500.47 - Firefighter; peace officer; residency requirement; prohibition; exemption; definitionsA. A city or town shall not impose any residency requirement on any firefighter or peace officer as a condition of employment.B. This section does not apply to any of the following: 1. Executive-level firefighters and executive-level peace officers.2. Peace officers employed by a city or town with a population of five thousand persons or less.C. For the purposes of this section:1. "Firefighter" means a professional firefighter who is a member of a city, town, county or fire district fire department.2. "Peace officer" means a marshal, police officer and any other city or town officer vested by law with a duty to maintain public order and make arrests.Added by L. 2019, ch. 95,s. 1, eff. 8/27/2019.
