Rule 507 - Political Activity of Judicial Department Employees and OfficersSection 1An employee or officer of the Judicial Department may not:
A. Use his or her official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election or a nomination for office;B. Directly or indirectly coerce, attempt to coerce, command or advise a State officer or employee to pay, lend, or contribute anything of value to a party, committee, organization, agency, or person for political purposes;C. Be a candidate for elective office in a partisan election; orD. Actively participate in the campaign of any political party or candidate. Section 2The Commission on Judicial Conduct is authorized to enforce this rule in accordance with the procedures established in Rule 502, SCACR. The Advisory Committee on Standards of Judicial Conduct may issue advisory opinions concerning this rule in accordance with the procedures established in Rule 503, SCACR.
