Rule 251 - ALTERNATE DISPUTE RESOLUTION/SUMMARY JURY TRIAL(a)General - By stipulation of the parties with approval of the court, a case may be selected for a summary jury trial.(b)Summary jury trial - The summary jury trial is an abbreviated proceeding during which the parties' attorneys summarize their cases before a jury, which will consist of six persons unless the parties with concurrence of the court agree otherwise. Selection of jurors and voir dire shall be conducted in the usual manner as for trials not governed by this local rule. Witnesses will not be allowed to testify, unless otherwise stipulated by the parties. Documentary, physical and demonstrative evidence shall be admitted as stipulated by the parties and approved by the court. Unless the parties stipulate otherwise, the verdict is advisory only. Counsel are to submit proposed voir dire questions and proposed jury instruction as ordinarily required.Amended effective 7/1/2020; amended effective 8/1/2022.
