Rule 8.011 - PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM(1) Parent Education Program - A parent education program of the type authorized by ORS 3.425 is established. The program informs parties of the impacts of family restructuring on their minor children in cases in which custody and parenting time are at issue.(2) In all cases involving custody and parenting time of minor children, the court shall encourage the parties to voluntarily complete the program and shall provide the parties with: (b) Registration and contact information for the program; and(c) Instructions for submitting the certificate of completion to the court.(3) Once a case involving custody and parenting time is at issue, the court shall determine whether to order the parties to complete the program, taking into consideration any factors the court may consider appropriate under the circumstances of the case.(4) If the court orders the parties to complete the program, each party shall:(a) Pay the required fee upon registering for the program unless waived by the court; and(b) File a certificate of completion of the Parent Program with the court within 30 days.(5) Sanctions- Failure or refusal to complete the program in a timely manner shall be considered by the court in making its ruling on issues which are in dispute.Amended effective 2/1/2024.
