Rule 19-706 - Sanctions and Remedies(a)For Professional Misconduct. An attorney who is found to have committed professional misconduct is subject to one or more of the following sanctions and remedies: (1) disbarment by the Court of Appeals;(2) suspension, for a fixed period or indefinitely, by the Supreme Court;(3) probation under terms and conditions as specified by the Supreme Court;(4) reprimand by the Supreme Court or, with the attorney's consent, by the Commission;(5) conditional diversion in accordance with a Conditional Diversion Agreement;(6) dismissal of the complaint with or without a letter of cautionary advice or, with the attorney's consent, a letter of admonition; or(7) placement on permanent retired status.(b)For Incapacity. An attorney who is found to have an incapacity is subject to the following: (1) transfer to disability inactive status, subject to further order of the Supreme Court;(2) conditional diversion in accordance with a Conditional Diversion Agreement; or(3) placement on permanent retired status. This Rule is derived in part from former Rule 16-721(2016) and is in part new.
