Rule XXXVI - Recusal of a Justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana, or of a Judge of a Court of Appeal, District, Family, Juvenile, Parish, City, Traffic or Municipal Court of the State of Louisiana

If a justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana or a judge of a court of appeal, district, family, juvenile, parish, city, traffic or municipal court of the State of Louisiana recuses himself/herself in a proceeding before that justice's or judge's court, that justice or judge shall, unless otherwise prohibited by law or applicable Supreme Court Rule, provide in writing the factual basis for recusal contemporaneously with the rendering of the order of recusal, file the order of recusal and written reasons into the record of the proceeding, and provide copies of the same to the judicial administrator of the Supreme Court.
