In addition to the compensation or retirement allowance he or she would otherwise be entitled to receive by law, any retired justice or judge temporarily assigned to active judicial service shall be paid his or her actual expenses, plus compensation of $400.00 for each full day of active judicial service or $200.00 for each half-day of active judicial service. A half-day of active judicial service is defined as any day in which the retired justice and judge works four hours or less, inclusive of travel.
