Whenever an unemancipated minor petitions the court for relief under Title 15, Chapter 11, Article 8 of the Official Code of Georgia, the court shall appoint a guardian ad litem to protect the interests of the unemancipated minor. The appointment of guardian ad litem shall not affect the unemancipated minor's right to counsel as outlined in O.C.G.A. § 15-11-684(a).
