(a) Employees shall be instructed in the use of H2S safety equipment to be provided on site. - (i) The instruction of personnel shall include, as a minimum, the following elements:
- (A) The characteristics of H2S and its hazards.
- (B) Proper first-aid procedures to be used in a H2S knock-down.
- (C) Use of personal protective equipment.
- (D) Use and operation of all H2S monitoring systems.
- (E) Corrective action and shutdown procedures.
- (ii) H2S safety instruction shall be given by a qualified person(s).
- (iii) Signs shall be posted 500 feet from the location, when possible, on each road leading to the location warning of the hazard of H2S.
- (iv) All H2S safety equipment shall be checked to assure readiness before each tour change.
