Section Trans 305.46 - Suspension system(1) Any motorcycle with a front suspension system modified before January 1, 1976, may have a rake of no more than 55 degrees, provided the trail is at least 2 inches.(2) Any motorcycle, commencing with the 1976 models, may be modified to cause the front suspension system to have a rake of no more than 50 degrees, provided the trail is at least 2 inches.(3) As used in this section: (a) "Rake" means the angle formed by the front suspension, or "forks," and a vertical line drawn from the top of the front "forks" perpendicular to the ground.(b) "Trail" means the distance from a point on the roadway directly underneath the center of the front wheel to the projected point where an extension of the front frame through the fork head would intersect the roadway.(4) Every motorcycle shall be equipped with a shock absorbing front suspension system. (a) The main tubes or the individual sliding tubes on a telescoping front suspension system shall be of one piece construction. Screw-on extensions, or "slugs," are prohibited.(b) All shock absorbing units shall be in proper working condition and free of leaks. Wis. Admin. Code Department of Transportation Trans 305.46
